Tecnológico de Monterrey
I am a research professor of economics at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. My research and teaching span development economics, political economy and their links with behavioral economics.
I am the co-founder and director of the Behavioral & Experimental Economics Research Lab (BEER Lab) at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where we connect research, teaching and training in behavioral and experimental economics.
I received my Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. I previously taught at Universidad del Pacífico in Lima and Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá.
I am a network co-director of LACEA BRAIN (Behavioral Insights Network), the behavioral and experimental economics research network of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA). I also co-organize the Workshop of Experimental and Behavioral Economics of the Americas (WEBEA).
My academic service includes the Advisory Committee for INEI’s University Extension Program in Data Science, run by the Peruvian Statistical Institute, and the Scientific Committee for the RIDGE Summer School in Economics.
I also direct Pukllay, a joint project of LACEA BRAIN and Tecnológico de Monterrey through BEER Lab that brings behavioral and experimental economics to classrooms across Latin America through free online games.
I created the Spanish-language MOOC Behavioral Economics for Effective Public Management on edX. I also share reflections on economics and politics on Substack.
